Hi everyone,
I'm new to sim racing and I'm trying to figure out which car category I should focus on as a beginner. I've heard that some categories are easier to drive than others,, but I'm not sure which one to choose. Can anyone give me some advice on which car category is best suited for someone who is new to sim racing? I appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you!

Hi Julia,

It depends really for example I cannot stand driving tintops like GTE cars but I really get on with Formula cars so open wheel cars. Like F3.5 F1 cars etc etc.

If you prefer tin tops you may want to try the DLC of British Touring cars. But you would have to pay for the content from the store. But if you prefer formula cars there are quite alot of choices like skip barber or USF2000 or Formula 3.5, great starter cars to get you used to the speed.

When on the main steam page when RF2 is selected there is also the workshop tab where there is all the mod content that you dont have to pay for. There are whole series of pretty much any type of car you want to try for free no cost. Some are better than others and some are just fantastic. Just pick one click subscribe and it should load install next time you load the sim.

Hope this helps.

Julia, ( if you are still checking on this thread )

Is there a type of car you like to watch race? If you enjoy watching it, it will keep your interest learning to drive with it.

I would suggest , when you're just starting off, that you download a car that is not high horsepower. If it's hard to keep pointed in the direction you want to go, it will be frustrating. If what you really like is hard to drive for you , turn on the driving aides in the sim until you get some laps under your belt and then start turning them off. If your goal is to some day be in an online racing league, they pretty much all don't allow the driving aides.

Let use know what kind of car you like, and we might be able to suggest a good student level car of that type.
